Fans of the cult classic 1982 film Blade Runner were in for a surprise last summer when it was announced that a sequel was in the works. Here at Minter & Richter Designs we were in for an even bigger surprise when Scott got a call from the movie’s prop director.
On the hunt for a special looking knife to play a lead role in the film, the prop director had stumbled across a picture of one of Scott’s custom made knives online. As soon as he saw the unique colors and sleek, futuristic look he knew he’d found the one.
Knee-deep in ring orders Scott initially balked at the request to make a custom knife for Hollywood. That is until our two teenage sons protested: “Your knife is gonna be SO famous!”
So indeed, Scott’s knife will be hitting the big screen worldwide this October. You can view the knife that killed the stars of the movie here! Aptly named STAR KILLER. Check out the trailer for Blade Runner 2049 below:
Scott’s knife making isn’t merely a hobby - before Minter & Richter Designs was born, Scott was making and sharpening knives professionally. He made his first knife at age 13 and it has been a lifelong passion.
